On May 21, 2019 ACF Tampa Bay Chef's assisted the students at Northwest Elementary School, Hudson FL, with the harvesting of carrots they grew in their vegetable garden. The Tampa Bay ACF Chapter started this garden 10 years ago when Mrs. Obama asked “Chef's to Move to Schools” as part of her Let's Move Initiative.

Each year this garden has been increased in size and this year the students were able to grow enough carrots to feed the entire student body. ACF Tampa Bay Chef's assisted the school's kitchen staff in cleaning and roasting these carrots. Besides carrots these students grew tomatoes, broccoli, green and purple beans, blackberries and radishes which they took home to their families.

Throughout the school year the ACF Tampa Bay Chapter sponsors 4 school gardens for the purpose of encouraging children to make healthy food choices.
